Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

ABA is the core of Apex's clinical model and the most evidence-based treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Apex delivers comprehensive ABA services that include standardized assessments, individualized treatment plans, 1:1 therapy delivered by Registered Behavior Technicians, and BCBA supervision that exceeds industry standards. Intervention methods include Natural Environment Teaching, Discrete Trial Training, Functional Communication Training, behavior reduction planning, and parent training.

Apex's ABA program is distinguished by full integration with Speech and OT, BCBA-D/Senior BCBA leadership, higher supervision ratios, military-family expertise, and a hybrid clinic + home model designed to deliver measurable progress while supporting the entire family.

In-Home ABA Services

In-Home ABA Services

In-home ABA extends learning into the child's natural environment and addresses behaviors that occur outside the clinic. Services include functional behavior assessments, parent coaching, daily living skills, sibling interaction support, and generalization of clinic-learned skills. This service is especially valuable because many behaviors occur only at home, and TRICARE strongly supports hybrid clinic + home models.

Apex ensures full coordination between clinic-based and in-home therapy to accelerate progress, maintain consistency, and strengthen family engagement.

Feeding Therapy

Feeding Therapy

Feeding therapy addresses sensory, oral-motor, and behavioral challenges that affect eating and mealtime routines. Apex provides structured exposure to new foods, oral-motor strengthening, sensory-based desensitization, and caregiver coaching. Feeding therapy is fully integrated with ABA, Speech, and OT to ensure coordinated goals and reduce family stress.

Feeding difficulties are highly prevalent in neurodivergent children and require specialized, interdisciplinary intervention — a strength of Apex's model.

Focus areas

  • Structured exposure to new foods
  • Oral-motor strengthening
  • Sensory-based desensitization
  • Mealtime routines & caregiver coaching
Speech-Language Therapy (SLP)

Speech-Language Therapy (SLP)

Speech-Language Therapy is a core component of autism treatment, supporting communication, social interaction, and language development across home, school, and community settings. Services include comprehensive evaluations, expressive and receptive language therapy, social-pragmatic communication, articulation, and phonological treatment, AAC assessment and training, and feeding/oral-motor therapy when appropriate.

Apex's SLP program stands out through full integration with ABA and OT, shared interdisciplinary goals, strong parent involvement, and data-driven progress monitoring. Families can access all communication services under one roof, reducing fragmentation and improving outcomes.

Focus areas

  • Expressive & receptive language
  • Social-pragmatic communication
  • Articulation & phonology
  • AAC assessment & training
Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational Therapy supports sensory processing, fine-motor development, daily living skills, and functional independence for children with autism and developmental delays. Services include sensory processing evaluations, fine-motor and handwriting development, self-care and daily living skills, sensory-based feeding therapy, motor planning, visual-motor integration, and structured activities in a sensory-friendly gym environment.

Apex's OT program is unique because it collaborates directly with ABA and Speech, uses shared interdisciplinary treatment plans, incorporates parent training for home routines, and emphasizes strong early-intervention practices. OT is essential for helping children build confidence and independence in everyday life.

Focus areas

  • Sensory processing & regulation
  • Fine-motor & handwriting
  • Self-care & daily living skills
  • Motor planning & visual-motor integration
Parent Training and Family Support

Parent Training & Family Support

Apex believes parents are the most important members of the therapy team. Effective treatment requires equipping families with the tools, confidence, and support needed to reinforce progress across home, school, and community settings. Parent services include TRICARE-required parent training, ABA skill-building workshops, Speech and OT home-program coaching, behavior-management strategies, sibling-support guidance, family-resource navigation, and specialized support for military families navigating EFMP, PCS transitions, and TRICARE processes.

Consistent parent training leads to faster progress, stronger generalization, reduced stress, and improved long-term outcomes. Apex's Sibling Support Program provides play-based sessions that strengthen sibling relationships and family dynamics.

Social Skills Groups

Social Skills Groups

Apex offers structured social groups for children who benefit from guided peer interaction and opportunities to practice communication and social-emotional skills in a supportive environment. Group sessions target turn-taking, conversation skills, emotional regulation, cooperative play, problem-solving, and friendship building.

Apex's signature program, Bright Connections, provides small, clinician-led peer play sessions with neurotypical peer models to create natural social opportunities. Each session is supervised by a BCBA or trained clinical staff to ensure a safe, positive, developmentally appropriate experience.

Respite Care

Respite Care

Apex offers optional Friday and Saturday evening social groups that provide children with structured opportunities to build peer interaction, communication, and social-emotional skills while giving parents meaningful respite time. Activities are led by ABA, Speech, and OT staff, creating a multidisciplinary environment that supports turn-taking, cooperative play, emotional regulation, and confidence in social settings.

This service is especially valuable for military families managing deployments, relocations, and unpredictable schedules, offering reliable support during high-stress periods.

What's included

  • Friday & Saturday evening sessions
  • Small groups led by ABA, Speech & OT staff
  • Real recharge time for parents
  • Support through deployments & PCS moves
School Collaboration and Advocacy

School Collaboration & Advocacy

Apex supports families in navigating the school system and ensuring continuity of services across home, clinic, and educational environments. School collaboration includes IEP review and consultation, coordination with teachers and school-based therapists, behavior-support recommendations, transition planning, and functional behavior assessments when permitted.

This service is particularly valuable for military families who frequently transition between school districts and must re-establish appropriate support. Apex's collaborative approach strengthens communication across settings and empowers families to advocate effectively for their child's educational needs.

How It Works

Getting Started with Therapy at Apex

Getting started at Apex begins with understanding your child and your family’s priorities. Our team guides families through each step — from the initial consultation and assessment to an individualized therapy plan, coordinated services, and ongoing progress monitoring.

STEP 1 :
Request Consultation

Start with a Simple Conversation

Your journey begins with a consultation request.

This first step allows our team to learn more about your child’s current needs, your concerns, previous diagnoses or therapy history, and the goals that matter most to your family.

STEP 2:
Initial
Assessment

A Comprehensive Look at Your Child’s Needs

Once we understand your goals, our clinical team performs a thoughtful multidisciplinary assessment.

This may include behavioral observations, communication screening, sensory and motor review, feeding concerns, and developmental milestone discussions depending on your child’s needs.

STEP 3:
Personalized
Plan

A Coordinated Therapy Plan Built Around Real-Life Goals

After the assessment, our team creates a fully personalized care roadmap.

Instead of separate providers working independently, Apex builds a shared multidisciplinary treatment plan that aligns ABA, Speech, Occupational Therapy, Feeding, and in-home support where needed.

STEP 4:
Receiving Services & Progress Tracking

Therapy That Evolves with Your Child

Progress is never static, and neither is our care model.

As therapy begins, your child’s multidisciplinary team tracks progress through measurable goals, session observations, parent feedback, and cross-provider collaboration.
